Piezoelectric Properties of Granite
The King's Chamber is constructed entirely of Aswan red granite, which contains a high percentage of quartz crystals (~55%). Quartz is strongly piezoelectric — it generates an electric charge when mechanically stressed, and conversely, vibrates when an electric field is applied. The 70+ granite beams in the chamber and relieving chambers collectively contain thousands of tonnes of piezoelectric material. If the pyramid structure transmits mechanical vibration (from seismic activity, wind, or Nile flow), the quartz crystals would generate measurable electric fields. Combined with the chamber's resonant properties, this creates a natural transducer capable of converting mechanical energy to electromagnetic energy.
