Giza Elevation Survey and Water Table Measurements

GIZA ELEVATION AND GROUNDWATER DATA

(from published geophysical surveys and archaeology)

ELEVATION REFERENCE POINTS (metres above sea level):

Giza Plateau surface (at Great Pyramid): ~60m asl
Great Pyramid base: ~60m asl
Subterranean Chamber floor (~30m below base): ~30m asl
Descending Passage entrance (~17m above base): ~77m asl
King's Chamber (~43m above base): ~103m asl

CURRENT WATER TABLE (from geophysical surveys, 2019):

Plateau average: +15m asl
Near the Great Sphinx: +13-18m asl
Southeast of Khafre: +22-40m asl
South of Menkaure: +45-58m asl
Nazlet El-Samman suburb: +17m asl

CURRENT: The Subterranean Chamber floor (+30m) is ~15m ABOVE the average water table (+15m). But in the elevated areas south of Khafre, the water table reaches +40-58m, which IS above the chamber.

CURRENT NILE AT GIZA:

Low water: ~16-17m asl
Flood: ~20-22m asl
The Khufu/Ahramat branch is now completely dry.
