Full Description

Alzheimer's patients with physically destroyed neural tissue (dead neurons, plaques, atrophied tissue) unexpectedly regain full cognitive clarity, memory, and normal communication shortly before death. Published in Alzheimer's & Dementia (2019, NIA workshop): "challenges current assumptions." Under the generator model, this is nearly impossible — the hardware is destroyed. Under the filter model, it is predicted: the degraded brain was a corrupted filter blocking consciousness badly (dementia). At death, the filter breaks entirely, and consciousness flows through unimpeded. The person "comes back" not because the brain healed, but because the broken filter stopped blocking.
