Davison Discovers First Relieving Chamber Above King's Chamber

King's Chamber Relieving Chambers, Great Pyramid (29.9792°N, 31.1342°E)

Detailed Account

British consul Nathaniel Davison discovers the first of five 'relieving chambers' stacked above the King's Chamber. These granite-beamed chambers were officially interpreted as structural support, but their piezoelectric granite construction and coupled-oscillator geometry would later become key evidence in the transmitter hypothesis. The other four chambers would be blasted open by Colonel Howard Vyse in 1837.
