Dahshur, Egypt (29.8086°N, 31.2061°E)

Detailed Account

Egypt's first successful true pyramid and the third-largest pyramid ever built (105m tall). Built by Sneferu at the same 43° angle as the Bent Pyramid's upper section. The internal chambers have spectacular corbelled ceilings. Notably, the Red Pyramid's construction is estimated at only 10-17 years — an extraordinary pace for 1.07 million tonnes of limestone.
